Course overview
The training program Assistance in Accounting provides fundamental and advanced knowledge of financial accounting and enables a comprehensive understanding of central accounting processes. Participants learn to systematically record business transactions, process documents appropriately, and apply booking entries correctly. A special focus is placed on the proper management of accounts, considering legal and tax regulations. Furthermore, basic procedures related to the annual financial statements are covered, including the preparation of balance sheets and profit and loss statements in accordance with applicable tax law requirements. The content is implemented practically using financial accounting software. Additionally, advance VAT returns and tax-related booking transactions are addressed, as well as digital tools to support accounting processes. Through case studies and practice scenarios, participants solidify their handling of financial accounting in typical business situations. Another component of the training includes the basics of office software related to accounting. Participants work with Excel and learn data entry, cell formatting, and workbook management. This includes formatting, copying, and moving cells, using formulas, and working with relative and absolute cell references. Additionally, functions that are particularly relevant for tasks in financial accounting are applied. Furthermore, Outlook is used to create, manage emails, and organize contacts in the accounting context. Calendar maintenance, meeting planning, task management, and simple automations through rules are also covered. Additionally, participants acquire skills in creating and designing presentations. They learn to plan and structure presentations, create master layouts using the slide master, and present content clearly. Information and data from financial accounting are visualized, including the use of charts. Animations and transitions are purposefully used to present accounting content understandably. In the core subject area, the fundamentals of financial accounting are taught. This includes the classification of accounting as part of financial reporting, the systematics of financial accounting, as well as retention periods and preparatory activities for the annual financial statements. Inventory and balance sheets are explained as central components of accounting. Building on this, ongoing accounting activities are addressed. Participants deal with specifics of ongoing bookings, VAT, goods traffic, and the booking of raw materials, auxiliary materials, and operating supplies. Other content includes the accounting treatment of private withdrawals and contributions, as well as the recording of wages and salaries within financial accounting.
