Need for Care and Its Classification Definition of need for care and the modules of the assessment instrument Care levels and the resulting entitlements Maintaining independence as a guiding principle of activating care Rights of people in need of care, confidentiality, and data protection Additional support according to paragraphs 43b and 53b SGB XI 2. Basic Procedures of Personal Care and Nutrition Washing, showering, bathing, as well as skin and nail care Serving food, types of diets, and observing drinking behavior Support with elimination and promoting continence Oral care, dentures, and observing mucous membranes Recognizing skin condition, edema, and early pressure sores 3. Preventive Measures According to Professional Standards Pressure ulcer and fall prevention based on the expert standards of DNQP Contracture, pneumonia, and thrombosis prevention Promoting movement and kinesiology throughout the day Back-friendly work and use of transfer aids Aspiration and dehydration prevention in case of swallowing disorders 4. Infection Protection and Documentation Standard hygiene, hand disinfection, and personal protective equipment Dealing with multi-resistant pathogens and requirements of the Infection Protection Act Nursing documentation according to the structural model with structured information collection Handovers and orderly passing on of observations within the team Cautious handling of nursing documents and performance records 5. Recognizing Emergencies and Acting Until the Specialist Arrives Signs of an acute deterioration in general condition Emergency call, basic resuscitation measures, and recovery position Behavior in case of falls, bleeding, shortness of breath, and consciousness disturbances Documentation of special occurrences and debriefing within the team Professional Relevance Working as a nursing assistant in stationary long-term care Assisting with basic care in outpatient services Deployment in day care and short-term care Foundation for further nursing qualifications Support in care groups and nursing communities
