Course overview

Course Objective The Certified UX Design course covers methods and processes of user-centered product development in the context of digital applications. The focus is on information architecture, interaction design, prototyping, and usability evaluation as components of a UX workflow. The goal is the structured application of established procedures from requirement gathering to testing. The term "Certified" refers to a final certification of the conveyed competency framework. Content Introduction to UX fundamentals with differentiation from UI, roles in the product team, process models such as Design Thinking and Double Diamond, as well as the application of heuristics and usability standards. Requirement gathering and research with user interviews, context analyses, creation of personas and user journeys, as well as derivation of use cases and scenarios. Structuring and information architecture through card sorting, sitemap creation, navigation concepts, and content models including wireframing of page and screen structures. Interaction design and prototyping with design principles, states and flows, creation of low- to high-fidelity prototypes, as well as documentation in pattern libraries and style guides. Usability testing and evaluation using moderated tests, remote methods, A/B variant testing, metrics such as task success, time on task, and error rate, as well as evaluation and derivation of measures. Implementation and collaboration in the development process with handover formats (design specs), accessibility requirements according to WCAG, legal foundations regarding data protection and copyright, as well as versioning and collaboration tools. Learning Objectives - Analyzing user needs through conducting and evaluating interviews, context analyses, and observations. - Creating personas, user journeys, and use cases to derive requirements for functions and interactions. - Designing information architectures and wireframes including navigation structures and content models. - Developing and prototyping interaction flows in low- and high-fidelity with documented flows and states. - Conducting and evaluating usability tests including test planning, moderation, measurement of defined metrics, and result preparation. - Implementing accessibility criteria according to WCAG in designs and integrating UX artifacts into handover processes to development teams. Career Prospects The course content is applicable in fields such as UX Designer, focusing on research, interaction design, and prototyping. Typical areas of activity include UI/UX design in product teams with responsibility for information architecture, design specifications, and handover to development. The course addresses content for roles such as usability analyst or UX researcher with a focus on test planning, data collection, and evaluation. Tasks in the area of product design with interfaces to product management and accessibility requirements are also covered. Summary The Certified…
