Course overview

Data protection regulates how personal data may be processed, while data security ensures its technical protection. The course combines both areas and shows how companies can effectively integrate legal obligations and technical measures. Legal Foundations of Data Protection Apply principles of the GDPR such as purpose limitation, data minimization, and transparency Review legal bases for processing from consent to legitimate interest Implement the rights of affected individuals regarding access, deletion, and correction Understand the role and responsibilities of data protection officers and supervisory authorities Organizing Data Protection in the Company Maintain a complete and up-to-date record of processing activities Conduct data protection impact assessments for high-risk processing Review and conclude contracts for data processing with service providers Assess data breaches and fulfill reporting obligations within 72 hours Technical Data Security Select technical and organizational measures according to Article 32 of the GDPR Purposefully implement access controls, encryption, and pseudonymization Technically implement data backup, logging, and deletion concepts Evaluate the security level of IT systems based on standards Implementation in Daily Operations Consider Privacy by Design in new applications and projects Train employees on data protection and safe handling of data Formulate data protection notices and internal policies clearly Create a data protection and security concept for a department You can classify data protection requirements legally and connect them with technical protective measures.
