Course overview

DevOps Foundation provides a structured introduction to DevOps as a methodology for modern IT operations and efficient software delivery. The focus is on value stream thinking, deployment pipeline, version control, configuration management, and the definition of done as central control instruments. The course distinguishes DevOps practices from traditional IT approaches and demonstrates their application in real project and organizational contexts. Additionally, it covers the framework conditions, architectural models, and the iterative nature of DevOps transformations. DevOps Foundation - Basics o Origin of DevOps: historical background and development of the methodology o Definitions of DevOps and a unified understanding of terms o Reasons for the use of DevOps in IT organizations o Clarification of common misunderstandings surrounding DevOps DevOps Foundation - Principles o The value stream as the basis for efficient software delivery o Structure and functioning of the deployment pipeline o Version control for structured change management within the team o Configuration management for consistent system configurations o Definition of Done (DoD) as a criterion for completed deliverables DevOps Foundation - Key Practices o Differences between DevOps practices and traditional IT approaches o Overview of central DevOps practices and their application areas DevOps Foundation in Practice o Applicability of DevOps in different corporate and project contexts o Limitations and framework conditions for the use of DevOps o Use of Commercial Off-The-Shelf Software (COTS) in the DevOps environment o Development of suitable architectural and organizational models o Iterative project process: gradual improvement and continuous adaptation Exam Preparation and Certification: DevOps Foundation Next Step: Request a non-binding consultation for individual course composition and flexible start dates.
