Course overview

Google Cloud is a platform for computing power, data storage, networking, and data-driven applications. In this course, you will get an introduction to working with the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and learn how to deploy systems, process data, and operate workloads in a scalable manner. This connects the fundamentals of cloud computing with concrete building blocks of a cloud infrastructure. Learning objectives on the platform Classify Google Cloud within IT architectures and distinguish the service areas of Compute, Storage, Network, and Identity Understand projects, resources, regions, and the logic of billing Set up virtual machines, storage, and network components Assign access rights through Identity and Access Management (IAM) and apply security concepts Monitor resources, evaluate logs, and control expenses Assess data, analytics, and AI services for typical use cases Platform, Resources, and Operations To start, the structure of the platform will be examined: resources are organized in projects, run in regions and zones, and are billed based on usage. After that, you will set up basic resources yourself - virtual machines, storage areas, and network components - and secure them with roles and permissions. The operations part focuses on monitoring and logging, budget limits for cost control, and the question of which data, analytics, and AI services of the Google Cloud Platform are sensible for a company. Based on typical use cases, you will evaluate when an application belongs in the cloud and what building blocks of cloud infrastructure it requires. Perspectives in Cloud and Data Platforms Knowledge of Google Cloud is applied in the operation of cloud infrastructure, the establishment of data platforms, and in digital product development. There are fields of application for Cloud Engineers, Cloud Administrators, Cloud Architects, Data Engineers, and System Administrators, as well as in roles that connect data center operations, data platforms, and architectural planning in the cloud.
