Course overview

AI cybersecurity analysts use AI tools to detect security threats earlier, assess incidents more quickly, and relieve the security workload within the organization. The training focuses on the use of AI for security analysis—not on securing AI systems themselves, which remains a separate task. Understanding the Threat Landscape Effective analysis begins with understanding attack vectors. - Common types of attacks from phishing to malware to account takeovers - Attack surfaces in email, web, endpoints, and user accounts - Changes in the threat landscape due to AI-assisted attacks such as convincingly realistic phishing texts AI in Detection and Assessment - Identify anomalies in log data and alerts with AI support - Evaluate and categorize suspicious emails and messages - Prioritize alerts: separate important information from noise - Summarize incident data for quick situational awareness Supporting Incident Handling In critical situations, structured and traceable work is essential. - Maintain checklists and workflows for typical incident types - Prepare reports and notifications for incidents using AI - Follow-up: document causes and derive actions Raising Employee Awareness - Present phishing examples and warning signs in an understandable manner - Create short training sessions and guidelines for departments - Make reporting channels known and lower barriers to reporting Limits, Law, and Responsibility - Assess and verify the reliability of AI evaluations - Data protection in the evaluation of log and communication data - Clear responsibilities between analysis, IT operations, and management Tools and Information Sources The analyst works with a manageable, combinable tool landscape. - Language models for log analysis, alert analysis, and report drafts - Structure external alerts and situational reports for evaluation - Document own audit routines as reusable processes - Interaction with existing security tools of the organization - Regular evaluation of incident history for focus setting - Exercises and test cases to verify own detection routines - Write understandable security briefings for executives and staff - Coordinate prioritized action lists after incidents with responsible parties Upon completion, participants will be able to effectively use AI tools in security analysis, systematically assess incidents, and support the security work of their organization.
