Course overview

The professional management of a nursing area or nursing service as a nursing service manager requires background knowledge, information, communication, and exchange of experiences. Almost daily, you encounter new challenges and opportunities. The increasing competition and pressure for efficiency shape your daily work in nursing management. Objectives of the further training for the management of a ward/area include taking on leadership and management tasks in accordance with the recognized state of nursing science/relevant scientific findings, deepening and expanding professional, personal, social, methodological, intercultural, and communicative competencies, and linking complex management and leadership tasks with individual actions. The theoretical part of the training is modular and consists of a basic module and five specialized modules. Basic Module: Basic Module Developments Justified, Initiated, and Designed (80 UE). Specialized Modules: Specialized Module I Acting in a Businesslike and Regulatory-Compliant Manner (130 UE), Specialized Module II Acting Innovatively (120 UE), Specialized Module III Promoting and Motivating Employees (138 UE), Specialized Module IV Implementing Organizational Management as a Leader (124 UE), Specialized Module V Leading and Managing (128 UE). The practical part of the nursing training for ward managers includes 80 hours of observation divided into three sections. Two different areas of deployment take place in your own hospital/institution. The third observation (at least 40 hours) is completed in an external institution. The subject of the observations always relates to leading and managing.
