Emergency Situations in Care and Support

Course overview

Emergencies can occur at any time and require quick, safe, and situation-appropriate action. In this course, you will learn to recognize emergency situations early, initiate first aid measures, and provide proper care for individuals in need until the arrival of emergency services. Content: Apply legal foundations, self-protection, and accident prevention in emergencies Correctly place an emergency call and safely utilize the rescue chain Assess vital functions and provide proper care for unconscious individuals Learn the basics of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) Recognize respiratory, cardiovascular, and metabolic emergencies and respond appropriately Early recognition of stroke, heart attack, shock, and other acute emergency situations Apply measures for burns, hypothermia, heat damage, and poisoning Provide initial care for wounds, bleeding, fractures, and joint injuries Consider special aspects of falls, electrical accidents, and emergencies in daily care Document emergency measures clearly and collaborate with emergency services and other involved parties Perspectives: These competencies are an important part of daily practice in outpatient and inpatient care facilities, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and other healthcare institutions.
