Course overview
Project management includes the GPM Basic module as well as a supplementary business English module at an appropriate language level. Basic knowledge in project management The training course imparts fundamental knowledge in project management according to the standards of GPM (German Society for Project Management). The focus of the qualification is on systematic planning, control, and successful completion of projects. At the beginning of the training content, the creation of a formal project charter is addressed, which defines the scope and serves as the basis for aligning all further activities. Building on this, the overall task is structured into individual work packages to define clear responsibilities. In the further course, project management is supported by the use of a RACI matrix and the targeted allocation of necessary resources. Schedule and process management A key focus is on schedule and process management. Here, learners acquire the skills to identify milestones and determine the critical path to recognize time constraints early. For operational control in both classical and modern project management, the Magic Triangle serves as a guideline for balancing the factors of time, cost, and content. To continuously monitor progress, methods of variance analysis are employed, culminating in regular status reports. If there is a deviation from the original plan, this process is managed through a formal change request. Additionally, a structured risk management approach captures the probability of occurrence and the extent of potential disruptions. Agile elements such as maintaining a task list in the form of a backlog and working in short iterations are also addressed to ensure flexibility in the creation of each individual deliverable. Involvement of stakeholders The involvement of all relevant stakeholders is a central element for successful project management and begins with the preparation for a kick-off meeting. At the end of a project, the focus is on systematic knowledge building through lessons learned. Although the module on GPM basic knowledge is conducted in German, modern project management increasingly demands international interaction. Building and solidifying English skills For this reason, the educational offering includes a supplementary language module that builds and solidifies English skills at the individually appropriate level. Individual suitability is based on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Mastery of the English language is a significant advantage in today's project management, as cross-border supply chains, distributed teams, and communication with international clients are standard. The technical terminology in professional project management often relies on English terms. Thus, the supplementary language module supports understanding international documentation and facilitates professional exchange in a globally oriented project management context. In this way, the measure combines solid…
