Qualification Course for School Assistance

Course overview

We qualify you for a rapidly growing sector and train you to become a qualified school assistant. Benefits of working as a qualified school assistant (conditions may vary depending on the employer): - School holiday days are vacation days, approximately 12 weeks of vacation per year - Payment in accordance with the TVöD (Collective Agreement for the Public Sector) - Suitable for part-time work As a qualified school assistant (school companion/integration aid), you will support children and adolescents who are affected by mental impairments (e.g., ADHD) and/or intellectual and/or physical disabilities (e.g., visual impairment, Down syndrome) in their school life. You provide them with educational assistance (e.g., making work instructions understandable, orientation in school life) and mediate between the school and the child. Our course was established in cooperation with the State Capital of Hanover and the Hanover Region and is recognized as a prerequisite for employment as a qualified specialist. In our program, we provide the necessary foundations to work as a qualified school assistant: - Introduction to the work as a school assistant - Understanding of roles - Educational and psychological foundations - Special educational foundations and areas of focus - Promotion of social skills - Design of learning processes - Reflection The program is complemented by two school internships, where the learned material can be directly tested and the future job can be experienced, as well as a first aid course.
