Course overview

Elder law encompasses central legal regulations that secure the standard of living in old age, provide protection in health and social matters, and enable self-determined living. In addition to financial security, questions regarding living situations, provisions, and estate planning also play an important role. The goal is to empower older individuals in their independence and support a dignified life in all phases of life. In this training, you will receive a structured overview of the most important legal foundations of elder law. You will learn how the statutory pension insurance is structured, what benefits it includes, and how pension entitlements are calculated and composed. A distinction is made between gross and net pensions, and the significance of additional security systems is explained. Another focus is on financial security in old age. You will engage with private provision models, supplementary pensions, as well as social assistance and basic security in old age. This will give you an understanding of the various pillars of retirement provision and their interplay in the provision system. Furthermore, the training imparts knowledge on legal questions surrounding housing, care, and life design in old age. Various living arrangements for seniors will be addressed, as well as legal support services that can facilitate a self-determined life.
