Six Sigma

Course overview

Six Sigma includes the Six Sigma Greenbelt module as well as a supplementary Business English module at an appropriate language level. This qualification combines methodological training in data-driven process optimization according to the Six Sigma standard with tailored language instruction to reinforce English skills. The primary subject module addresses the systematic capture, analysis, and improvement of workflows to minimize process variation and sustainably ensure quality standards. The methodological foundation is the five-step DMAIC cycle, which serves as a structured guide from problem definition to permanent process monitoring. In the initial orientation phase, capturing the Voice of the Customer is central, from which specific CTQ requirements for the end product or service are derived. To clearly delineate the scope of investigation, participants use the SIPOC model, which clearly presents interfaces as well as input and output variables. Identification of performance limitations A key focus is on identifying performance limitations in operational processes. Through detailed process mapping, organizational and technical workflows are graphically prepared to early locate existing bottlenecks. To eliminate inefficiencies, the training focuses on avoiding any form of waste to maximize pure value creation within the processes and significantly reduce lead time. A central goal in applying Six Sigma is to achieve high process stability. For this purpose, statistical metrics are used to determine process capability, and methods for reducing error rates and scrap are taught. The targeted zero-defect principle is supported by the use of Poka Yoke mechanisms, which proactively prevent human errors. Basic understanding of the methodology A fundamental understanding of the methodology also requires mastery of analytical tools for problem-solving. A structured Root Cause Analysis serves to not only superficially correct deviations from the target state but to sustainably eliminate the actual causes. The results culminate in a binding standardization of the optimized workflows to secure the achieved performance level in the sense of the Kaizen philosophy. This attitude corresponds to the core concept for a permanent Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) in operational practice. Global language competencies Although the technical content of the Six Sigma methodology is taught in German, practical application in professional everyday life often requires global language competencies. This language practical qualification seamlessly connects to the individual knowledge level and is oriented towards the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). For example, individuals with proven A2 knowledge complete a targeted B1 advanced segment, while participants at B1 level directly enter the B2 specialist level.
