Course overview

Course Objective The UX Copy & Microinteractions course focuses on textual microelements and small interaction patterns in digital products. It covers principles of user-centered design, the role of microtexts in interfaces, and the interplay of language, state signals, and feedback. The goal is to develop clear, context-related formulations and to systematically plan microinteractions along typical usage scenarios. The course is situated in the field of UX design and content design and addresses the interface between interface text, interaction design, and prototyping. Content Introduction to UX Copy: Definition clarification, typologies of microtexts (labels, CTAs, placeholders, error messages, confirmations), tonal and consistency rules, accessibility, and linguistic clarity in interface contexts. Conceptualization of Microinteractions: Triggers, rules, feedback and loops, states and transitions, visual and auditory signals, mapping to user flows and edge cases. Patterns and Components: Working with design systems, component libraries for text and interaction elements, tokens for language, status messages, and validations, versioning and governance. Prototyping and Testing: Creating clickable prototypes, formulation tests, tree testing, and A/B variants, metrics for error rates, drop-offs, and task completion, evaluating qualitative feedback. Documentation and Handover: Style guides for UX copy, content guidelines, microcopy checklists, annotation of states and events, handover to development including acceptance criteria. Legal and Compliance: Notes on data protection texts in the interface, compliant consents, clear entry and exit points for notifications, transparent communication of system states. Learning Objectives - Analyze microtexts in existing interfaces based on defined criteria for clarity, tonality, and accessibility - Identify typical triggers, states, and feedback forms in microinteractions within a user flow - Create consistent UX copy for labels, CTAs, validations, and system messages based on a style guide - Develop microinteraction concepts with triggers, rules, feedback, and loops for defined usage scenarios - Implement and annotate microcopy and interaction states in low- to high-fidelity prototypes - Evaluate test results from A/B and usability tests and derive specific adjustments to texts and interactions Career Perspectives The course content is applicable in professional fields such as UX designers focusing on interaction design and state modeling in digital products. Typical job roles include UX writers or content designers responsible for microcopy, tonality, and guidelines in design systems. The course addresses content for roles such as product designers in interdisciplinary teams with interfaces to development, research, and quality assurance. Summary The UX Copy & Microinteractions course addresses the development of microtexts and small interaction patterns in the context of user-centered interfaces. This trai…
