Course overview

Part-time training for the professional care of people with chronic wounds. Contents: - Basics: Anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the skin, wound healing, microbiology, hygiene, and infection prevention - Disease patterns and wound assessment: chronic venous insufficiency, peripheral arterial disease (pAVK), leg ulcers (Ulcus cruris), diabetic foot syndrome, pressure ulcers (Dekubitus), lymphangiopathy, wound history, and photo documentation - Local therapy: wound cleaning, debridement, dressing techniques, modern wound dressings, vacuum therapy (NPWT), burns, and radiation ulcers - Adjuvant measures and framework: pain, compression, nutrition, expert standards, law and data protection, communication - Presence in the skills lab: practical wound care Scope: 226 teaching units (UE of 45 min.) over 15 weeks: 143 UE online live instruction (Zoom), 23 UE presence in the skills lab in Düsseldorf, 6 UE examination, and 54 UE guided e-learning. Classes are held on weekdays from 09:00-12:00 or 12:30-15:30, no Saturday classes. Individual entry into ongoing courses is possible after examination.
