Course overview
This course combines classic frontend development with AI-supported programming. JavaScript is a complex programming language that allows for the creation of dynamic websites that can be tailored to users. The versatile scripting language enables development on the frontend, backend, as well as mobile apps and browser extensions. You will learn to program interactive web applications - for example, for online shops or company presences - in the browser. AI accompanies you in two roles: as a tool in everyday development and as a component of the applications themselves. You will integrate AI language models through your own interfaces, develop AI-supported functions such as chat and text processing, and learn to safely review generated code. JavaScript Introduction Part 1 JavaScript and web development Markdown as a documentation, prompt, and AI output format Setting up AI assistants, basic prompting rules (context, role, format) Variables and data types Operators Control flow statements and iteration JavaScript Introduction Part 2 String methods Functions: declaration and function expression Parameters, return values, default parameters, guards Anonymous functions and arrow functions Scope and closures Arrays and array methods Higher order functions Loops DOM manipulation and CSS selectors Working with class lists Event handling: mouse and keyboard events, event object IDL and content attributes, data attributes, computed style values AI for error explanation: reading stack traces instead of copying solutions JavaScript for Advanced Users Objects and object methods Destructuring objects and arrays Recursion Multidimensional arrays Building promises and the async-await construct Error handling in asynchronous code Parallel and sequential requests Modules: CommonJS and ESM Node and npm, overview of the Node standard library DOM creation and traversal Templates and separation of concerns Browser APIs JSON REST APIs FETCH API Web animation First LLM call with fetch Backend proxy to secure API keys Debugging and Testing Browser DevTools Unit testing with Vitest Test runner and test organization Assertions Mocks and stubs Code quality Refactoring and clean code AI-supported test creation and refactoring with subsequent review TypeScript Primitive and complex data types Interfaces Classes and inheritance Static type checking Types and intersection types Type guards Type assertions Integration of TypeScript with existing JavaScript code Typing via AI autocompletion in the editor and its limitations Migration from JavaScript to TypeScript with agent-based AI tools Generics React Components and props Modules and module bundlers Vite State management with React hooks Handling user interaction and events React Router Working with forms Working with APIs and data handling Testing in React Performance optimization and deployment Git and GitHub AI integration in web applications LLM APIs: models, context windows, tokens, and costs System prompt and user prompt…
