Part time training can make a career step possible around care duties, health needs or other commitments. It is not simply a full time course with fewer classroom hours. The total calendar duration, live sessions, independent practice and reporting obligations all need to fit your life before you select a course.

    Calculate the real weekly commitment

Ask for live hours, expected self study, project work and assessment dates. Put them into a weekly calendar with travel, care and recovery time. A schedule that looks manageable on a provider page can become difficult when fixed attendance and practical work are included.

Confirm the exact part time offer

Check that the planned cohort, timetable and format are the same details discussed in your funding conversation. A provider may offer several versions of one subject. Do not assume that a part time option has the same measure information as a full time option.

    Ask about support before enrolment

    • How are absences reported?
    • Are sessions recorded or repeated?
    • Who helps when you fall behind?
    • When are examinations and projects due?

    Choose completion over speed

A longer timetable can be the better route if it gives you a reliable chance to finish and build evidence. Discuss the constraints openly in the consultation. Funding is individual, so avoid treating a course format as an automatic approval.
