Course overview

The Basic Qualification in Care for Qualification Level 2 (QN2) has been developed to qualify individuals who do not have training in care (according to the staffing assessment tool under § 113c SGB XI) and to prepare them for future caregiving support tasks and responsibilities. According to the proposed PeBeM, more caregiving assistants and support personnel are needed. This aims to address the chronic shortage of skilled workers. Tasks should be assigned based on the current definition of care needs, oriented towards competencies and qualifications. (www.gs-qsa-pflege.de) The first theory-based qualification level is that of personal assistance. This includes close physical assistance and care for individuals who are impaired in their independence or suffer from dementia. Care assistants support individuals in need with personal hygiene, mobilization, nutrition, and orientation in daily life. With the acquired professional knowledge, they are able to observe the situation and condition of the care recipient and recognize the need for action. Documenting special incidents and collaborating in an interdisciplinary team complete their area of responsibility. (cf. Knigge-Demal/Hundenborn, 2013) Contents: Module 1: Introduction to Care Module 2: Basics of Care and Support Module 3: Hygiene, Occupational Safety, and First Aid Module 4: Communication and Interaction with Care Recipients Module 5: Legal Foundations and Documentation Module 6: Ethics, Attitude, and Self-Reflection
